What are conflicts of values are and how to regulate them
Find out how values influence your choices and your emotions

Values are a fundamental chapter to be explored in the life of each of us as they help us shape our lives and create balance and harmony.
Understanding values allows us to direct our choices with greater awareness.
What are values and how they work
Values are the qualities of the soul and they set our behaviours in motion, directing them towards “what is important to us in this moment of life”.
These qualities, namely the values, are expressed through our thoughts and emotions and if we learn to know how they act within us, we can consciously align ourselves with them and we can live our qualities, thus feeling more satisfied and fulfilled. Not listening to one’s values means to deny, in some way, the existence.
Many people do not realize the power that values have on their way of thinking, acting, and relating and therefore they approach the topic of values as something to be understood analytically, instead of living them consciously.
Knowing and aligning with one’s values means using an effective tool to fully accomplish one’s evolution.
What conflicts of values are and how to resolve them
Values make their way through our thoughts, our emotions, our behaviours, and our choices to express these qualities. Sometimes, however, our values can be in conflict, creating a lot of inner chaos, both emotional and mental, which affects our well-being and our interactions with others.
To better understand the concept of “conflicts of values”, let’s take the example of an entrepreneur who has an active conflict between the values “Freedom” and “Responsibility”.
Let’s pretend that the entrepreneur, in this moment of life, feels the strong desire for “Freedom”. They can’t stand it anymore, they are very tired, they always have complicated situations to manage, they are never serene. The twenty years of hard work to create and consolidate their own company have been very demanding. And it is thanks to the value “Responsibility” that they succeeded in their challenges, it was them who took command of choices, diligently guiding them to success. “Responsibility” today finds it hard to let go of control and therefore maintains the same behaviours without leaving room for expression for “Freedom”.
“Freedom” is felt more and more in thoughts that echo with phrases such as “I’m tired, I give up, why should I do it” trying to sabotage “Responsibility”. Without being aware of it, when there is a conflict of values, we enter a duel where unfortunately no one will win if we don’t intervene, indeed they will all pay a high price in terms of wasted time, energy, and thoughts. If the entrepreneur does not intervene to create a balance between “Responsibility” and “Freedom” they will inevitably begin to feel more and more frustration, dissatisfaction, and malaise in general.
In some cases, when people experience conflicts of important values, they risk developing depressive personalities, or burn-out or unrelated and unclear, often chronic symptoms. So, these aspects of the inner life shouldn’t be underestimated or ignored, they should instead be managed consciously.

The importance of values in the coaching process
Values are a fundamental part within a path of personal growth and coaching since when we understand them, we create the “empowerment”.
Through a process of listening to the story of the person’s current experience, the Coach identifies the areas in which the person can act to improve or change something in their life. As a person begins to clarify within themselves, they can begin to take steps to restore order and balance.
Once the alignment with one’s values is rediscovered, thoughts calm down, emotions are lightened, and it is easy to keep the focus and one’s energies directed towards one’s desires. The person, with fewer contradictions and with much less waste of time and energy, can freely manifest themselves in their qualities.
When a person comes into full contact with the inner values, they create a relationship with the most beautiful parts of themselves.
